Thane District: With no attention paid to their sanitation needs, India’s nomadic communities are forced to either defecate in the open or struggle for access to unsafe and filthy public toilets, shows a recent study. And it is the women and girls of these communities who face the brunt of this crisis, routinely risking sexual harassment and violence at these facilities.
